Service for Transfer Students
Evaluated credits earned from other institutions are added onto the student’s academic record after a student has been selected for admission and has indicated an intention to enroll. No student may assume that credit will be given for work at other institutions until a written statement of credit accepted from the Office of the Registrar is received. Grades and credits from other institutions are not included in the student’s grade point average at Leighton University.
Academic Planning
Leighton University assigns each incoming student to an Academic Counselor who is trained in course selection and registration. You will conference with your advisor as many time as necessary throughout the year. He or she will help you select courses and plan your academic program.
Transcript Evaluation
Once we receive an official copy of your official transcripts, we can evaluate them to determine how many of your credits will transfer to Leighton University. If you are planning to transfer after completing a two year program at a community college, our transfer counselor will work with you to recommend the classes you should take at the community college. Just call us or make an appointment for a scheduled conference.
Generous Transfer of Credits
Students can obtain transfer credits for most courses with a grade of C or better, taken at regionally accredited institutions. Transferred credits will count toward a specific requirement if a similar course is offered at Leighton University and has officially been evaluated. A maximum of 70 credits may be transferred from accredited two-year institutions toward a baccalaureate degree program. And 45 from a two year institution to an associates program.
