CRJS 343 Management of Correctional Systems3 hours credit –The management of correctional systems, public and private. Includes organizational theory supervision, planning, management styles, public relations, security issues, information systems and liability issues in correctional agencies.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
Upon completion of this course, student will have a mastery of to analyze and gain an understanding of the following aspects of the criminal justice system:
- The nature, organization and purposes of the correctional system.
- The history and laws of the correctional system.
- Practices, management and programs within each of the components of the correctional system including, prison, jails, probation, intermediate sanctions, parole and release.
- The issues, trends, perspectives and dilemmas in the correctional system and their impact on the community and the larger society.
- The correctional practices including probation, incarceration, intermediate sanctions and community corrections. (interprets & communicates information)
