The Corporation works closely with the University’s Division of Advancement and Partnership Relations to inspire, generate, and prudently manage private support for the university. Led and managed by the Board of Directors, as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (Internal Revenue Service Code), Leighton is “…organized and operated exclusively for exempt purposes set forth in section 501(c)(3), and none of its earnings may inure to any private shareholder or individual."  In addition, it may not be an action organization, i.e., it may not attempt to influence legislation as a substantial part of its activities and it may not participate in any campaign activity for or against political candidates.

All funds received in support of Leighton University are placed under the management of the Leighton University Corporation. Leighton University Corporation’s mission is to ensure that gifts and contributions are utilized to benefit the institution as requested by the donor.
