Major Declaration and Assignment of a Navigator
When a new student has declared a major he/she will be assigned an academic Navigator (advisor) in the University's Academic Success Center who is dedicated to the major. The Navigator will counsel the student regarding their academic progress. Undeclared students will be advised by a staff member also from the University's Academic Success Center whose role is to counsel undeclared students. The Academic Success Center is open each day between Mon-Fri 8:00 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. for all questions regarding academic schedules, programs, and requirements.
Before each registration students must consult their Academic Navigator
All Leighton students should see their assigned Navigator not only for program planning prior to each registration, but also for guidance and evaluation throughout the year. An advising period is published during the fall and spring semesters. See the Academic Calendar for specific dates.
You will receive your Registration Access Pin (RAP) from your Academic Navigatorr
In all academic programs at Leighton University, some courses are required while others are elective. It is the student’s responsibility to make certain that all required courses of the chosen curriculum are completed. Navigators at the University's Academic Success Center are available between 08:30 a.m. to 08:30 pm (Central Time Zone), to assist students in planning their academic work. Not all courses are offered every academic Term; some are only offered in alternating Semester (Spring/Fall)or alternating years. The University is not responsible for scheduling problems that result from the student’s failure to take these intermittent courses when they are available, nor is the institution responsible for those students in an accelerated program who cannot be accommodated by the regular course rotation or students who are off sequence due to failing courses.
