CUIN 550 – Media and Global Cultural Change

CUIN 550 – Media and Global Cultural Change – 3 credit hours –The course familiarizes students with a multi-cultural global perspective of a multimedia world. The course will highlight the globalization of media is now globalized and its role in unifying cultures, and its impact on distinct cultural differences. A historical perspective of American media conventions will be examined along with its impact on traditional media formats and how these same conventions are reflected or contrasted in the media of other countries in areas such as their influence on social norms at the national and global levels and how media convergence has contributed to globalized media. The course will engage students in critical analysis of the causes, patterns, and consequences of using social media in a global context.
