PHIL 203 Ethics and Moral Principles 3 hour credit – An investigation into the moral and ethical dimensions of human life. Among the topics to be considered are the norms of morality and the general process of moral decision-making. Traditional natural law will be one of the points of view included.

Students who complete this course should be able to do the following:
- Identify and explain the objective and goal of ethics and moral philosophy;
- Describe what is ethical relativism and its consequences.
- Recognize the major role that culture plays in the study of ethics.
- Identify and explain the differences among norms, laws, and ethics.
- Recognize and explain the nature of morality and the various ethical theories (e.g. ethical egoism, utilitarianism, rule-utilitarianism, and deontology).
- Perform written and oral analysis of contemporary issues.
- Discern and distinguish morally relevant and irrelevant issues.
- Develop well-thought-out ethical position, while identifying the various perspectives of a moral question.
- Construct strong, cogent arguments in defense of a moral position based on strong ethical and moral reasoning.
