If you are a student who is a senior in high school, graduating soon, or if you are a student who has recently graduated and who has not enrolled in another college or university after high school graduation, you should apply for freshman admission.
First-Time Freshman Admissions Requirements
A First-Time Freshman has no previous college enrollment after high school. To be considered for admission, First-Time Freshman applicants must:
Admission Requirements
- Completed Online admissions application accessible at https://www.leighton-edu.us/application-form/
- Official high school transcript or GED certificate and copy of GED Scores
- Standardized Test Scores (SAT/ACT) (If a student attended more than one high school, both transcripts are needed)
- Two letters of recommendation from a teacher or guidance counselor
- Optional personal essay
High School Curriculum Requirements
- Students must have a High School GPA of 2.0 or Higher
- Standardized Test Scores (ACT/SAT)
- Letters of recommendation from teacher or guidance counselor
Subject area requirements (18 units)
- English – 4 Units
- Math – 4 Units (Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus or other)
- Science – 3 Units (Biology, Physical Science, Physics, or Chemistry or other. One must be a Lab Science)
- Social Science – 2 Units (Government, Civics, US History and World History)
- Foreign Language – 2 Units (Of the Same Language)
- Academic Electives – 3 Units
Placement Test
Based on a student’s major and previous college coursework, you may be required to take placement tests.
*Standardized Tests – All students must provide a set of standardized exam result (typically the ACT and/or SAT) in support of their application for admission. Standardized exam results are considered valid only if they were completed within 5 calendar years of the term for which a student plans to enroll. The University also uses the ACT or SAT sub-scores to determine placement levels in certain areas. Be sure to submit all standardized exam results with your application for admission. There is no score that alone will guarantee admission.
