Academic Navigators

All undergraduate students are assigned a primary Academic Navigator (advisor) based on their major. In all cases, your assigned Academic Navigator is listed in MyLeighton (under Resources).

When an Academic Navigator advises the same student each Term, a relationship is always certain to develop, and the student trusts and heeds the advice that is given. Leighton's hope is that you will quickly develop this relationship and trust by meeting with your Academic Navigator on a consistent regular basis. Through the connection you make with your Academic Navigator, you will remain informed of the proper sequence of the classes that you will take to meet your program's requirements and earn your degree. Academic Navigators will support you with care, help you register for classes, monitor your progress throughout the semesters, and discuss your career goals and future plans and objectives.

You and your academic navigator will work together in selecting the best, most appropriate courses for your first Term and each Term thereafter.

Your Academic Navigator has extensive training,  expertise, and experience in your selected major.  The know-how and experience of your Academic Navigator will be beneficial to you. Every student needs a Navigator to help chart the way  –  for example, how to make great use of electives. It is one of your responsibilities to make sure you meet on a regular with your academic Navigator and to use a variety of tools to plan your future Terms.
